- Determine your budget.
A first step may be getting preapproved, to determine price range. Stanton Homes builds custom homes from the $200s to the multi-millions. Your basic price range will help determine the right combination of lot price, home square footage, special features, and interior and exterior finishes.
- Decide where to build.
If you’ve already purchased your lot, send us a copy of your plot map and septic permit when you request your free building cost estimate, and we’ll be able to give you a better ballpark figure for your total building costs. If you’re still looking for the perfect location for your new home, we will leverage our relationships with local real estate experts in every Triangle region to help you get started.
- Choose and customize your floor plan.
There are tens of thousands of home plans available. We build everything from one story homes to main floor master suite homes, and even floor plans with a guest suite or second master bedroom. Stanton Homes can make many custom changes to fit a floor plan to your tastes, such as rearranging kitchens, moving walls, windows or doors, expanding rooms, adding additional living area, expanding garages, and much more. There’s no need to purchase the blueprints up front – you’ll have an initial consultation and receive a free building cost estimate first, so that you can decide if the home truly fits your budget.
- Do your research.
Compare bids before committing to a new home contract. Make sure each builder is offering the same home, on a line-by-line basis. Take into account the aesthetics as well – walk through homes built by the builder, and not just a fully loaded model home. Ask for references, and do some research on your builder.
